Dawyck Beech Fagus sylvatica ‘Dawyck’. This row of trees were planted in a line by the perimeter wall in the 1970’s. Their fastigiate or upright growth habit is evident when the trees are in leaf or out of leaf. These trees have similar shaped leaves and colour of bark as the Copper Beech. The Dawyck beech originated in the 1860’s in a garden of that name near Peebles, Scotland.
