Lime Crann teile.(Tilia x vulgaris). The Common Lime tree is long cultivated as a parkland tree or an avenue tree in estates. In summer clusters of yellow scented flowers hang beneath the green rounded leaves and the air can be alive with the sound of bees working the flowers. Smooth red twigs with red buds distinguish these trees in winter. (Source: Dr Mary Forrest, UCD).
