Coast Redwood Sequoia sempervirens. An evergreen from Western United States, Oregon to California, it is the tallest growing tree in the temperate regions. The bark is red, with a ‘stringy’ or flaking appearance. The foliage is evergreen, linear, sharply pointed in flattened ranks. Cones are globular 2cm long. Source: Dr Mary Forrest, UCD.
